What is NCCR AntiResist

The National Center of Competence in Research (NCCR) AntiResist is a Swiss-wide research consortium funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF). AntiResist aims to tackle the rapid and global rise and spread of antibiotic resistance, a problem of strategic and international importance. To reach to this goal AntiResist assembles a diverse panel of experts in the fields of clinical research, infection biology, chemistry, computation, engineering and pharmacology. Centered at its home institution, the University of Basel, NCCR AntiResist brings together 29 research groups in Switzerland and one in Israel.

Researchers from the University of Basel, the University Hospital Basel and the Department of Biosystems Science and Engineering (D-BSSE) of ETH Zurich at Basel work in close proximity to each other at the Life Science Campus in Basel. Additional research groups are located at the ETH Zurich, the University of Zurich, the University Hospital Zurich, the EPFL Lausanne, the University of Lausanne and the Ben-Gurion University in Beer-Sheva, Israel. AntiResist also aims to develop close interactions with the private sector involved in antibiotic R&D. Current project partnerships with industry include Roche, Polyphor and BioVersys.
